The meeting was part of a program arranged by the organizers of the 29th International Quran Competition, which came to an end in Tehran on Friday.
Qasem Moqaddami and Hossein Motamedi, both from Iran, won the first prizes in the categories of recitation and memorization.
Ayatollah Khamenei has travelled to Mashhad to make a visit to the shrine of Imam Reza (AS).
Ayatollah Khamenei called all the reciters the guests of Imam Reza (AS) during a short speech.
“The Iranian people have the honor of waving the banner of the sovereignty of Islam and the Quran over the materialistic world,” he said.
“With their patience, resistance, and endurance for the hardships, they have added to the brightness of the banner,” he added.
He said that the U.S. government and the Zionist regime are trying to thwart the Islamic movements in the region and added, “The bloodthirsty and savage enemy resists the growth of the Islamic movements of the people in the world, but by following the Quran, these movements will neutralize all plots against them.”
Moqaddami, Motamedi, Egyptian reciters Ali Mahmoud Shamis, and Ahmed Naina recited verses of the Holy Quran during the meeting, which ended with a supplication offered by Iraqi eulogist Maysam Vahid Tammar.
